Like: I really like NYU blackboard. Although I did think it was very complicated at the beginning when I started to use it since my English was bad at that time, I get used to it now. For people like me who always forget the place where they store certain articles and reading materials, blackboard can definitely build up a resource pool where I can retrieve all these useful reading back instead of losing them forever. In addition, I can read and download the readings for free instead of buying a second-hand book online. The roster and discussion board work well. I can share my ideas online and in time with my classmates. In the meantime, I can easily find my classmates' emails instead of asking the professor. The outlook is OK for me since I am not a big fan of fancy design.
Suggestion: Make the functions and designs simple, easy, and convenient.

Student teaching 11/29/2012
11/29/2012
This morning’s
extension time full of fifth graders I covered it for a while since Mrs. P.G.
went to pick up the class. Although they were advanced students, it didn’t mean
they would help set up the chairs actively without teacher’s request. When Mrs.
P.G. was leaving, only one girl came. It meant I needed to lead them to do
warm-up and sing when other students come. I asked first coming students to set
up the chairs for other students. And the reward was they could play any
instrument for several minutes. Then they needed to go back to chairs and
started to do warm-up with me. I didn’t follow Mrs. P.G. warm-up method. Then I
taught them the new song, which was Hanukkah is coming. Since they only had
lyrics, they failed to differentiate the melodies between phrase no.3 to phrase
no. 6, although they really liked the song. Since students knew I was a student
teacher, sometimes the solo kid and other boys tried to ignore my instructions
and started to talk. I pointed them out and let them sing individually. If they
sang it right, I definitely gave them a big compliment. If they failed to sing
it well, they knew it and also behaved better when I taught them how to sing
it. In this way, I not only resolved the behavior issues and built my authority,
but also assessed how much and how well they learned. For that annoying melody problem, Mrs. P.G.
helped me out by doing solfeggio. Instead of singing the words, students only
sang the notes names with corresponding hand gestures. After practicing several
times, this annoying problem fixed. I figured out I could try other possible
methods by deconstructing these music elements when repetition cannot resolve
the problem. Then overcome small problems one by one.

Today we had rehearsal of fourth grade. Compared to the fifth grade, fourth grade behaved much better. Since
Mrs. P.G. found a new song to let the chorus sing to celebrate the Festival,
which was Caroling, Caroling. She thought it was short and then she did some
rearrangement that was modulating from F to G with repeating the first sentence
three times. Since I graduated from composition major, I would say it was not
fluent and audible. It was too straight. I did another version of rearrangement
by adding three “Ding, Dong” at the end of the F major part while extend the
time of each single word. When it came to the G major part, we changed the
tempo by making it faster and rushing to the end with students ringing their jingle bells. We adopted this version.
It worked pretty well.

Three comments on classmates' blog
1. and the piles of work begin to grow...Megan
Megan is my teammate. I like her post of Group Work with a really cute picture. She shared her graduate life which was full of group working and what these group collaborations bring to her. The group working creates the opportunities for students to share, communicate, and think together.
Btw, Megan, I am so glad to work with you and Lorraine for our final presentation in Tech Resources class.

2. How You Think Outside In-Suhyun Yeon
Suhyun's post of NYU blackboard mentioned the design and outlook of this platform was not attractive and creative. In addition, it was not often been used among the students and professors. For my opinion of NYU Blackboard, please read my next posting.

3. Dimitry Ekshtut's NYU Blog-Dimitry
Dimitry's post of NYU blackboard is informative since he has been in this school for 6 years. He has his special perspectives of this interface. The interesting thing is that he mentioned NYU Classes. I am curious of what it is and looking forward to using it.

Reflection of the first meeting
10/17/2012
Today was the first meeting that we met our teammates. I was so glad that all of us came from different countries. Megan was a dance education graduate from American. Lorraine also was a dance education graduate from India with working experience in NYC. We introduced our background and talked about the student teaching since all of us were doing the same thing. We found we had a lot of common topics.
For the video, which was Tech Learning Curve: Help Desk - Introducing The Book, I didn't understand it completely. However, it seemed that my American classmates liked it so much. It made to think about my English listening and learning. When I have time, I will watch it again!
